The finalists of the RBS ESSA bronze award have now been chosen!
The FIG team was blown away by the standard of the entries and the inventiveness shown, making it an extremely tough choice to pick, but in the end the societies’ videos that most impressed the judges were:
Leeds Medical Students Representative Council
The chosen societies are now guaranteed a cash prize (£5,000 for the winning society, £1,000 for the two runners-up and £500 for the remaining societies) depending on the number of YouTube hits their video receives.
To make it fair, views for the videos have been reset to zero and the societies have until 3pm on the day of the RBS ESSA awards ceremony (Monday July 2) to rack up the highest number of hits.
The winners will be announced during the event so the competition remains anyone’s game.
To enter the awards the societies were tasked with creating a short promotional YouTube video entitled ‘who are we?’
The video, filmed and edited by society members, had to promote the activities of the society and encourage new members to join.
From shots taken at 10,000 feet to songs written and performed by members, attracting more than 160,000 views, the level of entries was extremely high and the FIG team would like to congratulate everyone that entered.
The RBS Enterprising Student Society Accreditation (ESSA), run by FIG and sponsored by the RBS Group and LinkedIn, is a national scheme that rewards and recognises enterprising societies and the teams behind them.
More than 310 university societies across the UK have received accreditation to date.
The ESSA competition has three different levels of awards: Bronze, Silver and Gold. The awards vary in the activities that need to be completed.
The winners of the Silver and Gold awards will be announced during the event.
