Chairman of Cambridge Angels
John is an angel investor specialising in data businesses, particularly in digital media and communications.
He is Chairman of Cambridge Angels, Wazoku, Merchenta and Zanran as well as a director of FirstCapital, SharedBand, Lungfish and Fresh4Cast.
He was a founder of an office automation start-up in the early 1980s, which exited successfully, before taking on roles at Mitel, a fast-growth New York-listed telecom company, KPMG and Regis McKenna.
He then became Global Head of Telecom, Media and Technology Corporate Finance at HSBC, leading international M&A deals and IPOs where he ran deals worth over $40bn.
John also mentors entrepreneurs and is trustee of the education charity Onebillion Learners.
